Basic Keelboat Course (ASA101)
Beginner Level Course
Graduates are able to sail a boat of 23 feet in length in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. No auxiliary power or navigation skills required. Morning Sessions – Two hours of classroom instruction each day covering sailing theory and terminology; crew communications; knots; rules of the road; chart reading & a test. Afternoon Session – Three hours (minimum) of on the water sailing instruction aboard a 23′ sailboat practicing points of sail, boat handling, safety procedures, and crew rescue. Boats limited to four students. Students receive $50 discount on subsequent rentals.
